Are US schools poised to lessen focus on testing?

Policymakers are reconsidering how standardized tests are used in schools after the US Department of Education announced plans to review the issue. “Done well, assessments are tools for learning and promoting equity. Done poorly, in excess or without clear purpose, they take valuable time away from teaching and learning, draining creative approaches from our classrooms,” Education Secretary John King Jr. said.

{I dare to correct you, John You surely mean ‘shared assessment’. It’s blanket testing that has no use.}

MEA CULPA    A recent Treehorn Express featured a parody by  “Australia’s finest comic poet” (Bruce Dawe) Ray Kelley. To the tune of “Bless ‘Em All”. It contained a serious error.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa; the parody must be repeated.

Parents – Opt Out!
